An Immersive Adventure With Puppets, Creating Community Through Wonder

Puppetry is one of the world’s oldest storytelling traditions, yet it remains a remarkably effective way to bring people together.
Inspired by the tradition of community-based puppetry, Matthew Purdon explores how puppets can activate public spaces, inspire play, spark imagination, and create meaningful connections across generations.
Through stories, demonstrations, and examples from local parades, library programs, community events, and the Wylding Woods project, he’ll show us how moments of shared wonder can transform ordinary places into memorable community experiences.
